Surrexit Hodie

Francis Pott’s Surrexit Hodie is an 8-minute fantasia-toccata based on the plainchant melody O Filii et Filiae.

Written as a recessional voluntary for evensong on Easter Day 2020 at St Alban’s Cathedral, UK.

Released on the Naxos label (Naxos 8.574252-53) as part of a CD dedicated to the work of Pott (his Passion Symphony Christus and the organ works Improvisation on Adeste Fideles, Schmücke dich, O liebe Seele and Surrexit Deo.

Francis Pott is Chair of Composition and Head of Research, London College of Music. He is particularly renowned for his sacred choral and organ compositions.
