Description

The founding of the American Wind Symphony was inspired in part by Boudreau's first meeting by the prolific Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. This concerto alternates between the textures of a quartet of solo woodwinds and a full wind orchestra, in a trio of movements inflected by the vivacious cross-rhythms of the composer's home country. In 1959, it was premiered posthumously by the AWSO.
