BBC Proms announces 2021 programme

The BBC Proms has announced their programme of 2021 including premieres and performances of music by Ella Milch-Sheriff, Roderick Williams and George E. Lewis.

Ella Milch-Sheriff's monodrama The Eternal Stranger, based on a dream that Beethoven had whereby a person finds themselves facing rejection for no legitimate reason, receives its UK premiere with BBC Philharmonic and actor Eli Danker on 3 August, conducted by Omer Meir Wellber.

Roderick Williams' Ave verum corpus Re-imagined will be performed by the BBC Singers and conductor Sofi Jeannin on 19 August in a concert where choral music from the Renaissance collides with the present day.

Minds in Flux, a new work for orchestra and spatialised electronics by George E. Lewis, receives its world premiere on 26 August with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ilan Volkov. Sounds of soloists from the orchestra mutate into digital doppelgängers that follow spatial trajectories around the Royal Albert Hall.
