Contemporary New Issues Spring 2011
Edition Peters represents the best in contemporary music from leading composers who are active in many different fields. Recent publishing activity has brought exciting and high-profile projects to fruition. Marc-André Hamelin's brilliantly received Etudes for piano, released on a new recording from Hyperion, are available for the first time in a new edition. Recently signed to the Edition Peters Group, Richard Dubugnon brings several new projects which will be issued in the coming months, starting with three lyrical pieces for violin and piano which featured on Janine Jansen's new recording of classic French repertoire. We also present new editions of music by sensational organ virtuoso Cameron Carpenter; his Aria Op.1 for organ is now available.
One of the greatest and most influential composers of the 20th century, John Cage, would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2012. Preparations for a major year of celebrations are in progress (and details of activities and ideas can be found at the website of the John Cage Trust here). Several new editions of his music have just been released including a new version of the 44 Harmonies from Apartment House 1776 by Irvine Arditti.
And, of course, our world-class roster of contemporary composers bring exciting new titles into the Peters catalogue - new string quartets from Brian Ferneyhough and James Dillon, music for violin and cello by Erkki-Sven Tüür, piano music by Fred Hersch and new choral music from Jonathan Dove.
