Directors
Martin Williams (Chair), Linda Hawken (Managing), Nicholas Riddle (CEO Edition Peters Group) & Ian Flint.
Martin Williams (Chair)
Born in 1946, Martin Williams is the non-executive Chairman of Peters Edition Limited. He combines this role with a non-executive directorship of Marlin Chemicals Limited, international traders in chemicals, plastics and waxes. In addition, he also acts as company secretary of two of the charities that are members of the Prince’s Charities group - Arts & Business and the Prince’s Teaching Institute. Before joining Peters, he was, for over 20 years, chief executive of the Musicians Benevolent Fund - the largest charity in the UK helping musicians and their families in old age, sickness or misfortune. He is a trustee of a number of national charities including the Kathleen Ferrier Memorial Fund, and the Royal Albert Hall.
Managing Director: Linda Hawken
Nicholas Riddle (CEO Edition Peters Group)
After obtaining an MA in music at Oxford University, Nicholas Riddle went into the computer industry for thirteen years from 1981, working for the Scandinavian Strålfors Group. He joined Peters Edition Ltd in December 1993 as General Manager, becoming its Managing Director at the start of 1995. In January 1998, he was appointed also President of C.F. Peters Corporation in New York; in October 2002, he instead became its Executive Chair. He is a member of Board of the Music Publishers Association UK, as well as of the International Confederation of Music Publishers, is on the Council of the Royal Philharmonic Society, and is a Trustee of the Kathleen Ferrier Trust. His favourite other activities include directing choral music and playing the organ.
Ian Flint (Sales Director)
Ian trained as a pianist, and in 1979 was a semi-finalist in the ‘BBC Young Musician of the Year’ competition. He subsequently studied for 6 years with Sulamita Aronovsky at the Royal Northern College of Music, and during this time gave many solo recitals and concerto performances, principally in the north of England. However, the almost endless workload of the pianist’s life led him to yearn for a more steady ‘9 to 5’ job, an ambition he has only partially been able to fulfil in his subsequent career in the Peters Edition sales team, which he joined in 1989.
